Pokemon Black & White #4 - White

White quietly opened the door to the starch white classroom. All eyes immediently turned to her. Boys whispered and gaped-- was she really that ugly? -- and girls snickered and gossiped amongst themselves. The teacher, Ms. Greenburg, smiled kindly and announced her to the class. "Class, this is our new student I've told you about. Everyone say hello to White." she announced, motioning to White. White blushed, unused to all of this attention. A few hoots and hollers came from the boys, and the girls regarded her with cold hard jealousy. She took stock of the room, searching for a friendly face. In the back, surrounded by a couple of boys and girls, sat a handsome boy in a blue jacket. He had brown hair, and all-knowing brown eyes. He smiled, his white teeth almost blinding her. White blinked, and felt her face reddening. "Umm, hi. My name's White," she murmered quietly. She was very shy; especially when there was an adult right next to her. The teacher smiled again and said, "You can take a seat now, White. We're going to study the Unova Region today. I'm sure that whoever you sit next to will be happy to refresh your mind and guide you for a couple of days." White nodded, knowing that her face must be bright scarlet. She slowly walked up the boy in the blue jacket and sat beside him. "Hi, I'm Black. Nice to meet you," the boy said, his eyes shining. "Hi," was all she could get out of her mouth. She looked around the classroom again, trying not to stare too much at Black's face. He was so...so awesome, cute, and good. Handsome, even. "Now class, please flip to page fifty two in your textbooks." said Ms. Greenburg. Black leaned down and picked up two textbooks that were beneath his seat. "Here," he said, handing her a green one. "Thanks," she murmured, taking out her pencil. "Right now we're going to go over Nuvema Town, which is here, of course," he looked up at her from his textbook, "And, umm, we're currently studying the pokemon around here." he finished, looking down, apparently very interested in his watch. The phone rang, echoing through the classroom. The teacher walked over to the phone, her heels tapping loudly against the marble floor. "Hello? Oh, is that right? Okay. Yes, yes, of course. I'll be right there." She hung up. "Okay, class I'll be back in a jiffey, so don't do anything bad while I'm gone. Black, since you're the brains around here, you'll be in charge while I'm gone." She winked at us and then exited the classroom. Laughter erupted from everyone in class. "You? In charge of us? How stupid is that? Leaving the dork as our leader. Hmph!" said a boy with green hair. Black blushed, obviously embarrassed. White took a step forward and said, "It wouldn't be any better if you were in charge, Kyle." she said, reading his name from the tag on his shirt. He looked at Black when he spoke, "Oh, so you've got a girlfriend, do ya? Is she gonna fight for ya too, dweeb?" he smirked, then winked at White. White felt anger rise in her chest, building up like a volcano about to blow. "Watch your mouth, Kyle! And his name is Black, as if a kid like you would know. And I'm not his girlfriend!" she said, her eyes now like blue flames. Kyle took a step back, only now seeming to realize that she existed. "Looks like you have a crush, girl. I wouldn't talk like that with me around, White." he spit at White. "How come your girlfriend is doin' all the work, shuck face? Too scared?" he snickered, and some of the other kids, probably his friends, laughed at Black. White could practically see the anger build up in Black's eyes. She felt the heat coming off his skin like liquid fire. The icy fear from before had disappeared completely; now all that was left was rage, flaming, fiery rage. His gaze turned to steel, his hand fell towards his pockets. "Then let's battle," he said, hiding his anger very well. "You? Battle me? You're gonna get pounded, kid. You're gonna go cryin' to your momma when this is over, boy. Nine thirty eight; The Beach." Kyle said bravely, but White could see the icy cold fear behind his smirk. Black's fists unclenched, relieved. "Fine. I'll be there," he said simply, and grabbed his backpack and left, one second before the bell rang. White hurried after him, her heart thudding in her chest. Did he really think that she was his girlfriend? How was Black a dweeb? Black was the coolest, not to mention handsome, boy she knew. Kyle must have been jealous, she thought. She caught up with Black, who's eyes were clouded, as if in deep thought. Looking up, he murmured, "Sorry about that, White. Don't know what came over me." His voice was sad; his eyes sincere. "It's okay. I thought it was pretty cool back there, you standing up for yourself like that, Black," she admitted out loud, hoping to cheer this boy up. His eyes lightened, and his face blushed. He looked down at the ground as he walked. "Uh, thanks. I guess it was kind of cool." he said, his gaze flickered towards her, then towards the ground again. "Can I come? I want to see you pound that Kyle kid. He's mean." she smiled, her blue eyes shining brightly. Black looked up and caught her gaze, blushing. "Umm, sure, White. Uh, umm, would you want to study with me or whatever before that?" his eyes glinted in the morning light. Black wanted to study with her? She was a nobody, and according to everyone else, he was too, although to her he was the most amazing boy ever. She smiled shyly, and whispered, "Sure, um, do you get off at Newbrooke?" she asked, thinking of her new home. "Yeah," he murmured. Was he shy? To her? All these years White had thought that she was the ugliest girl on the planet and now someone wanted to study with her. Not just somebody though; Black. The most amazing boy in the whole universe. No, the most amazing boy ever. "Okay, then," he said, and they set off towards their next class.
